The largest national forest in the United States is larger than the entire state of West Virginia
Tongass National Forest in Sitka, Alaska, is our largest national forest, with an area of 25,937 square miles (16.6 million acres). It covers more than half of southeastern Alaska. It is now four times larger than it was when it was first established in 1902.
